The first experience took place earlier today. It was a cold but crisp, bright morning and the conditions were absolutely perfect. The birds didn’t disappoint and were out in good numbers. Six of us, including myself, made the 6 mile circular walk around Exton Park in Rutland and saw no fewer than 44 different species, which for the time of year and from a single location was an achievement in itself and all the guests were delighted. Highlights were Treecreeper, Redwing, Goldcrest, Green Woodpecker and Little Grebe along with a very showy Red Kite that seemed to follow us around for about 2 miles of the walk. In recognition of his entertaining antics, his image is now featured on the Blog and Contact pages of the website!
