A cold winter’s walk alongside Nene Washes this afternoon with the children was rewarded with some decent sightings. In a little more than an hour, we all enjoyed a couple of Marsh Harriers who periodically flushed up the numerous Teal, Wigeon, Lapwing & Mallard below, a very vocal and restless Great Spotted Woodpecker, two elegant Cranes on the wing in the distance, a Red Kite, a couple of Kestrels, a probable Merlin and a stunning Short Eared Owl that gave us all a chance to admire it as it perched on a fence before taking flight to hunt again! We were also entertained by a Fox over on the marshes trying to dig its way into a burrow to find food!
Looking forward to the first Experience here at the end of the month!!
